This is a hard one for me. I like making stuff….cooking to beading to sewing to crocheting and yes I have supplies for all of these, but not enough time. None are part of my career though. I wonder if I would like them if they were. I do not take pictures of things I make though. Here is two samples of two of my hobbies.

I enjoy Gardening with chickens. I've been gardening for decades, and doing it with chickens since 2017. I made a lot of mistakes when I started, but tried to learn from each one of them, and I make a lot fewer now. The most important lesson I learned is to work with nature, not against it.

and I enjoy cooking; this is Swedish apple cardamom cake

I've only really had the time and energy for this hobby since I retired. I try to avoid waste, so use seasonal produce, in whatever shape or form it comes, and look for recipes that use what I've got rather than go shopping for a long list of ingredients. I've discovered lots of new dishes this way.

And I like history and visiting museums. This Roman mosaic made in micro-tesserae at Agrigento in Sicily seems like an appropriate illustration for that hobby:

History is a very accommodating hobby: there is a time and a place and a topic to suit anyone's interests. But having chickens is a constraint on travel; finding available, reliable and capable chicken-sitters is not easy.

My reptiles!
It has been super rewarding and fun owning them over the past few years. They are super entertaining and fun to interact with. Seeing them grow, develop their personalities, and learn to trust me has been amazing and unbelievably rewarding. I have become very knowledgeable about them but I try to keep learning as much as i possibly can.

I love herping. Herping is the act searching for reptiles and amphibians in the wild. I enjoy it as i love interacting with them and seeing them in natural, or not so natural, environments. It is also very fun to get to explore places you wouldn’t normally go! I see slides, socks, and pj pants are not a look unique to the desert-dwelling teens.
