Whats your thoughts on pushy sellers?

It all depends...sometimes I sell as pairs or trios and will not break them up.

I usually give away young cockrels I've hatched on CL for people willing to process and eat them (I don't care to process them myself), then I only have pullets to sell.

With pushy sellers, I tie them up for as long as I can. I will spend hours telling other customers to "shove off, I was here first", while I drag the seller along.

Finally, after wasting half his day, when he has "made the sale" I ask "You take food stamps, right?"

It's the look on their face, that helps me smile myself to sleep that night.

I like when you list roosters on craigslist and you get an email asking for your address so you they can come pick up a few hens. Um...what? IGNORE

Anywho, I sell as pairs as well. Maybe trios if I have extra girls. I only sell as single hens if I have no matching boy and no closely similar boys to sell with. I know at the Sadieville swap someone wanted my buff cochin girl........I didn't have a buff cochin boy to go with but lots of other boys. Gold laced, mottled, blue, mille fleur.....the guy didn't want to buy her in a pair that didn't match, which was understandable. But I didn't want to sell her without a boy......he didn't buy her since I would not sell alone...and an hour later I sold her with a blue rooster. So, take it or leave it. If someone is rude or pushy, I would just walk away.

How about pushy buyers? I sell my silkies in pairs only (sometimes trios). I refuse to sell a hen by herself if I have extra roosters I need to get rid of. Not fair to me to be stuck with a bunch of roosters to give away. If you dont want a pair, then sorry, try somebody else.

x2! I totally agree. Take it or leave it. Nobody is holding a gun to your head and no, the point is not to just "make a sell". There are plenty of legitimate reasons why sellers do not want to be stuck with excess males and not selling hens by themselves is fairly standard practice and always has been. If you don't like it, don't buy. It is that simple.

Some people are just rude and idiots but don't miss out on the good people.

Pushy seller- good bye. Seller setting particular terms- accept it or not. I want to be like JetBlack when I grow up.
