Thanks in advance for help. I am new to raising chickens, but so far so good. I have a rooster, not sure how old though, got him from a local feed store all ready grown. I think. He has his saddle feathers, etc. He is a Golden Seabright mixed with maybe game.
Here is the problem-When he crows after a half **ssed attempt he, for lack of a better description, wheezes. On further examination he seems to have a string of mucous from the top of his beak to his tongue. He didn't crow much this am, he looks extremely healthy otherwise. He his very agile, bright eyed and alert. Should I worry??

I have a few youngens that have that " wheeze" after a good crow as well. Just part of growing up I guess.

Roo made sort of a squeaking sound at the end of his crow when he was younger and I could tell by watching it was a lot of effort for him. He is losing that squeak as time goes by.

Okay, Thanks for the input. Will keep it in mind. Went down to the coop tonight to tuck in the boy and the girls and noticed this.
After a little persuasion I was able to lead my roo his name is Bocephas, in a little evening crow, the wheezing is not so apparent now as the gurgle sound that is coming from his throat. Hmm.....sounds like issues to me. After internet research I think he has a respiratory infection of some sort. Whad yall think? I so do not want to become obsessed. But I love the gang!! My husband and I go down to the coop ofa evening and just sit and watch. My friends all think I have gone mad. They look back and forth at each other when I talk about the boy and the girls. Should I medicate?? Thanks again.
