Hello Maine Chicken Lady

I thought I would mention that if your chick starter is medicated, it may result in coughing and 'panting'. I guess it's a bit late now

I place an eggcrate over my chickfood so the mean ol adult chickens don't eat my babies food.

spook, how is your Ameraucana today? Having lost an Ameraucana hen to similar symptoms a week ago, I am interested to know how your treatment is working. - - I'm also hoping your girl is doing well!

I just ran across your post and I'm glad to hear that your girl is doing better. I would definitely look into worming your chickens. I have done some research on the worming thing and what I'm personally doing for my girls and roo is giving them some food grade DE mixed in with their crumbles every day. In the fall I will feed them some crushed, hulled pumpkin seeds which are a great, natural wormer. Good luck and I hope that they all continue to feel better.

Thank you for your kindness. Frieda is doing well, today I haven't been out like I should, they are hiding under the hydranger bush in the cool dirt. I did hear Frieda give her happy Braaaaaawk, so I know shes fine.
I used the Terramycin and a asprin crumble in water for them all, so far so good. I did not give them anything today, thought I'd see how they were and no problem, neither yesterday or today.
I will plan on treating for worms at some point, especially after this chicken stock. I had looked into Ivermectin, but gosh, that is expensive. I may find other chicken folks to split the vial with.
Anyways, Thanks again for your concern, I appreciate you all rallying for us.
