I am a new chicken mom. I have had 3 girls for a few months now. One of them has been wheezing almost the whole time I've had them but with absolutely no other symptoms. She seems to have the same appetite and energy as her sisters. Just in the last couple weeks as the days have become much shorter and colder they have stopped laying. My wheezing hen has started molting and is losing weight. I picked her up and realized her breast bone is quite sharp. She is not at the bottom of the pecking order. She seems to get as much food as the other two. She doesn't seem to have mucus, her eyes are fine, poops seem fine, mostly brown with white caps. Maybe some of the poops in the coop are a little more green. I keep straw in the coop, scoop out poop every morning and completely change the straw out every two or three weeks.
They eat Purina Organic Feed. They're less than a year old. I give them a bit of scratch, dried grubs, and black sunflower seeds everyday plus greens, veggies and berries.
I have not separated her from the others because until the recent weight loss she didn't have any other symptoms than the wheezing. I have given her bread in olive oil a few times hoping it could help if there was something stuck in her crop. Any advice?
