My in-laws always crack eggs in a clear glass before cooking them.... But other than a blood spot, I have no idea what I am looking for that would make an egg unable to eat.....Is it necessary to examine every egg?

You can use a spoon to dip out the blood spot if it bothers you. No reason to throw away the whole egg.I have had some eggs with blood in them.Even though they are edible I prefer to just use a different egg.
I always crack mine in a separate dish first so it's easier to pick out a bit or bits of shell if they fall in. I never throw out the eggs with blood or meat spots! I know some people that are grossed out by it, thoughI also like to see if they're fertile.
