When did your Barred Rocks start laying?

I am wondering too when my girls will lay. I have 6 14 week old EE pullets, a 13 week old FBCM pullet, a 13 week old BR pullet, and a 13 week old Bantam Black Cochin pullet. I'm watching them all and it is the EE's that I see more active. My one EE cockerel (I have two the same age as the girls) is actually mounting them and the Black Cochin pullet. But the BR pullet is getting really red and has a big comb and wattles. So I guess it's just a waiting game. This is my first Barred Rock pullet.

Last year, I got my first chickens, RIR and Leghorns. It took them all 4 1/2 months, before the first eggs. With this year's crop, I'm not even going to worry about it, as I know the signs, such as the growth and color of the comb and the change in the sounds, from chirping to clucking.

I am a member of the Lost My Mind Waiting for my Hens to Lay Club.... we have members nationwide. LOL. I don't have any BR pullets (bought mine as already laying) but I plan to get a few for next year. I have 8 that are about 17 wks (mixed breed) and I think they are tired of me staring at them!

Thank you all for your responses! It's interesting to hear the variaty

I bet the brahma will lay first. Post a picture of her face/comb and I can tell you.

My brahma started laying at 21 weeks. And your BR has about 5 weeks to go. Your brahma will lay before 5 weeks are up. ETA: My BR started laying at 20 weeks.

I am totally and absolutely guessing on her age. The past owner just told me that she was at the age to start laying so I assumed 5-6 months. It's hard to tell age once they are not chicks anymore lol!

I have two BR and mine started laying at 20 weeks for one and about 22 weeks for the other. They both waited until I took a trip to South Africa and then started laying when I was gone! I guess they figured I was bugging them to much looking for eggs!

How old is that Brahma? Thanks for your responses all

The Barred Rock and Brahma are in seperate coops so I will be able to tell who laid first.

One other question about squatting. My Brahma is somewhat reserved around me and moves away when I try to pet her. When she is ready to lay and doing the 'squat' will she stop and let me pet her? She is a fast bugger for being such a hefty girl lol!
