When did your Pekins start laying?

Most people's ducks are laying by 17 weeks?? If I get a egg by 20 weeks I'm lucky. Then again I've never kept any breed known for their egg laying abilities.
Oh good. I was really stressing. I am glad that others usually get them sometime after 20 weeks. I am looking high and low for an egg stash. Pekins are funny as heck so I wouldn't put it past them to drop them off somewhere.

I love mine too but I cannot afford to feed 11 ducks without getting some eggs to offset their cost. It's $70 in feed a month. I'm too poor to have 14 ducks for fun hehe.
Yes it does get very costly. Right now I'm going through $75 worth of flock raiser and not ONE bird is laying

I know. My mil died when I told her we were spending $130 or some bucks a month on feed for the chickens and ducks waiting for them to lay. And the cost goes up as the chickens get older and closer to full size. The geese eat so little that I just don't count them. They are for pure pleasure. They eat mostly grass so I don't need to feed them much. Ducks are feathery pigs.

It's defiantly normal for some to be late bloomers. Though they often end up just stashing the eggs from sight. This has happened a few times with my mallards. They aren't quite as comical as Pekins though

I can understand .. I woke up the other night to the sound of quacking... FLIPPED OUT! Thought my ducks were outside my window running (or waddling) for their lives. When I woke up, I realized my husband left the tv on and there was a roasted duck quacking on Comedy Central. Looked tasty. Anyway, I bought mine (actually, my KIDS bought the ducks) for pets.

Yes it's amazing how little Geese need to eat. They defiantly prefer grazing over the feed if given a option. Ducks on the other hand want to eat everything they can fit in their mouth

. I think my Turkey is even worse than the ducks. He'll just stand there and eat...and eat...and eat. He's started to pick up too much weight so I'll have to cut back on his intake.

Maybe I need to look harder. The geese are in their pen right now and the ducks, although dealing, are not enjoying their presence at all. I need to split them up better and have an idea. hehe

LOL ducks can defiantly be moody when it comes to roommates. They can be such drama queens
