ps. post a pic of your pekins :)

My Pekins are 22-23 weeks old and we have no eggs yet that i have been able to find...i keep thinking it should be any day now...do the act any different before they start laying? with the hens (same age as the ducks and some started laying at 18 weeks) it was obvious the combs and wattles turned red and they got more vocal.

My Pekin seemed like she was 7 months old with no sign of eggs. I kept looking all around the yard and no sign of eggs or nest anywhere. I was getting frustrated!!

It was in the middle of winter so I just thought maybe it had to do with the temp dropping.

Then all of a sudden she disappeared, her lover was waiting for her sitting by himself all lonely.
I thought she ran away, but then I heard a noise like a rustle. I looked under there and she was sitting there all peacefully. When she got up to run away from me I noticed a couple of eggs she was sitting on. I started pulling them out and there was 22 eggs in that nest. Assuming she was laying an egg a day that put her at about 24-25 weeks.

My black Swedish laid an egg on the concrete in the middle of my walkway for her first one so that make the Easter egg hunt easy.

Long story short lol... I'm going to say 24-25 weeks.

(well, congratulate or give condolences)

The BYC Staff is always keeping an eye on our helpful, active, friendly, and level-headed members to see if they would be good fits as BYC Moderators. We often have a lot of peeps we think would be good fits, so we'll often watch some members for months to see if they would be a good fit (you can read more about becoming a BYC moderator here).

Well after much discussion, research, and stalking we decided to add two new moderators. We put them through our rigorous interview process and they passed with flying colors!

Please welcome these two new BYC Moderators:
