When did your Pekins start laying?

It would probably be worth trying lights on a timer to give them longer days before giving up on them laying this summer/fall. I think that's discussed in the Story's guide too?
It's been discussed but I'm not a fan of it in the warmer states unless in winter. I feel it may add too much heat to the coops temperature.

I am waiting anxiously for my pekins to start laying as well. Mine are 18 weeks. We started their timed lighting about a week ago. We shall see how long the wait will be. We are feeding a drake, 5 ducks, 2 roosters, 5 pullets(not laying yet), and 20 hens. We are only getting 12 eggs a day. It is getting pricey to feed them all. I love how little the geese eat. It is wonderful. If they laid eggs like ducks I would only have geese.

Agreed. LOL!

I have 14 ducks and 26 chickens...I am not sure what my pullet to cockerel count is yet with my chickens. It's too dizzying to count when I only have mostly only 2 breeds and all the colors run together and they run around. I am sure I will have about 14-16 pullets when all is said and done. They ALL won't be laying until November I think? I staggered them all so much that POL is all over the place. Not sure that was my smartest move.

My ducks and 5 young pullets are the same age. I am hoping that they start laying before my older hens start molting. I would hate to buy eggs and feed that many birds at the same time! I have had pullets at 3 different POL. It wasn't that bad. It seems that I expected them to start too early. Like I thought they should start at the same time. My Easter Eggers took the longest of all. Hope you get duck eggs soon. I am anxious to try them.

My Brown Chinese Goose actually laid more eggs than my Mallards last year. I think I was up to 55 eggs when she finally gave it a break.

Wow! I might just have to get a chinese or two for the eggs!
They are defiantly IMO the best layers for eggs. However, their aggression is less than ideal

. The girls don't seem to be nearly as aggressive as the ganders though.
