Ok, I know that it is normal for chickens to do sporadic things when getting their egg laying machinery up and running, my question is when do things typically start to settle down into a more regular rhythm?
I have a golden laced Wyandotte that started to lay a few weeks ago, took a couple week vacation, layed regularly for about a week and now I think she is laying soft/no shell eggs at night while she is roosting. (There has been one for sure that I removed and wet litter other times.) I also have 2 others that just started laying, they are sporadic but the shells are perfect. The birds are on a layer feed with free range time and oyster shell available.
Like I said, just wondering when things settle in?

Congratulations on the eggs , those first few weeks can be frustrating!!

I’ve found that after a month or two things settle in . Of course any changes at all can disrupt the laying ....

Have fun and enjoy the bounty

Ok, thanks!

I've had some pullets take a month or so to get into their 'normal' rhythm.
One of my OE pullets this year has only taken about 3 days off in 40 since her first egg.
