When do Wyandottes generally start laying?

Woohoooo.. Congrats on your first eggs. It's so exciting. How big are your eggs? I only have the one, she didn't lay today. I imagine she will lay irregularly for a little while.

Wow this thread is kinda depressing. Mine are almost 16 weeks and I thought they were getting close to laying. I thought I'd have to wait until 22 weeks at the most... They are still small but I've never had Wyandottes before so I didn't know much about the breed. They have super sweet personalities but eggs would be nice!

Some wyandotte lay earlier. Ours are delayed by short winter days apparently. I was hoping they would lay earlier than they did. My RIR still hasn't layed yet (and they're supposed to be early developers).

The eggs are a bit small, both less than 50g.

Everyone is talking about the combs getting red when they are ready to lay. I don't think mine are close to laying but their combs go from super bright red to super pale pink all the time. I thought it had to do with heat or emotions kinda like blushing. Will they stop going pink when they get older?

I'm no expert but I had observations. With mine they just went bright red and stay red. So yes from my girls there is no more pink.

Mine are about 16 weeks old and have very small combs, but they are bright red. How big do their combs get?

I got a RIR and BLW as chicks at the same time, bat 20 weeks ago. My RIR has been laying for 3 weeks. Still nothing from the BLW.

My gold laced started laying half way through the 19th week. Still nothing from my silver laced and it's 21 weeks now. Her wattles aren't any where near as big as the gold. She did try to help her friend out by getting in the nest box with her though. It's super cute.

I am waiting for my wee gold wyandotte to start laying. I think she's about 7 months old, my araucana and EE from the same hatch have started laying. I'm not sure what to look for in terms of signs that she's ready to lay, she doesn't have a single comb, it's a small, flat one instead.
