when does peeping change to clucking?

that's the first time I've heard someone say that their chickens growls.

My hens just started making some of the strangest noises. On Saturday I was tilling the garden and I heard a strange noise. I though a dog had got in the chicken house and the hens was killing it.

I ran over and looked in the window. 2 hens had caught sight of the ducks that have just started feeding and making a nest in our yard. They were sitting up on the roost looking out making all kinds of noises. The rooster crowed over and over and over and over. I think he was trying to coax them over to add to his flock.

That's so funny. The first time I heard my young polish roo crow, I made record time to the chicken house to see who was dying. It was some kind of croak/squawk, but luckily his skills have increased since then:D

All of ours (6) are at 6 weeks, and one of them is starting to cluck (adorable!). The others are still only peeping.

We keep our roos in the coop until after 'first crow' which usually occurs around 8 am- I don't have windows in the coop, but the pop door is plexiglass, so limited light comes in until the light comes on around 8:30. I'm very fond of the noise, too, and have a baby monitor in the coop (in case of predator) so I get to hear it, but it doesn't make it to the neighbors!

Even better, they really don't do it much during the day, so I'm not ticking everyone else off! W00t!

My 'teenagers' are clucking now, save the EE roo, and he makes the same squeeeeee the 10 week olds are making. They didn't peep the same as my BR did, though, but beeped! It was hysterical- beepbeep beep beep!

Too cute!

My little ones (EE and RIR) that are almost 5 weeks are starting to sound like chickens every once in a while. There is one who makes that Squeeeee noise. And I catch them making a sort of clucking sound every so often I love it ,... and a trilliii when they see the cat or dog or a dove flies over. My little BRs are just little peepers still at almost 4 weeks.

My broody hen shrieks at me. It is the weirdest sound I have ever heard in my life. When I lift the nest box top she just sits. But if I touch her she starts this shrill high pitched shriek. Like... Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
