Here's an update, just to encourage folks to never give up --

Despite the awful handling this box received in transit, I just hatched SIX of the 13 unbroken eggs last night and this morning. Considering both the handling and the breed (bantam araucanas), that is a GREAT hatch.

In real life USPS almost never pays insurance claims.

If the "insurable" item is lost, they will want you to prove the "value" of lost item, never mind that you insured it for let's $100, you must actually prove to them the item was worth $100.00. (Receits etc)

I was a volume seller on ebay from 2000 to 2005 thousands of transactions. Very rarely I was able to collect "insurance".

I hate USPS, unfortunately as long as it remains a Gov agency operated by union covered sacred cows, they are going to keep destroing your precious eggs and packages laughing in your face.
