When should you hear peeping?

I guess there is no need to candle now. After my hatching box/lockdown drama, I finally got the box at a decent temp and humidity. When I went to retrieve the first two eggs - they had pipped!!! Hope they make it! I get so nervous at this point....

I heard peeping tonight! I checked on them at dusk and heard peeps from one and scratching in another--I am so excited. I have a mix of black, blue and splash orpingtons. I have 7 eggs (maybe six) and can't wait to see what I end up with. I divided them up between the 2 hens and originaly they both had 4. One broke and then I gave one to my little sebright, Scrappy, that went broody aout 10 days ago. I let her sit on an inferitle egg until I decieded that she was truly broody. She is sooo cute on that big egg. She is my favorite hen and I really hope her egg hatches. I will post pics of the chicks and hope everyone else will do the same. May Thursday (or wednesday) be a great day for all!
