In the mean time.... While you wait for your little one to perk up- My little slowpoke one finally got itself out of the egg today. If my little one can hatch so long ( 5 days ) after everyduck else and be fine- there has to be strong hope for your little one too. Its a bit weak- but out of the incubator now. I really didnt have any hope for that egg at all 4 days ago- so my fingers are crossed for your little one too.

THIS TOTALLY BITES...IF I EVER INCUBATE AGAIN I WILL NEVER, NEVER, NEVER HELP/KILL AN EGG AGAIN!! BABY FINALLY ABSORBED ALL & I'LL BE DAMMED IF THE POOR THING CAN NOT WALK. THE FEET ARE MESSED UP. THEY WERE BALLED UP I TRIED GENTLY MASSAGING THEM WITH A Q-TIP & WARM WATER EGG IS ALL THE WAY OFF AND TRIES TO STAND BUT FALLS OVER.. I CANT TALK ABOUT THIS NOW TOO SAD AFTER HAVING YOUR FACE UP AGAINST BATOR FOR DAYS AND TALKING TO AN EGG JUST TO HAVE A POOR HELPLESS DUCKLING. IT DOESN'T ACT WEAK IT JUST HAS DEFORMED FEET. Thanks for the help & support everybody, Julie yes i was yelling but not at any of you.

Julie- he is alive- and is so only because of you. This little duckie now needs your help again- You will be able to help it. Right now it is still very weak- but soon it will want to move around much more- so making sure its feet are supported is important. I have over the last few hours noticed my last little slowpoke kind of holds its head on the side- a sign of it spending too long in the egg- your little one also has been crunched up unable to move properly and will have to be " trained" how to move normally. I have put foam sticky pads on the soles of ducklings feet to help them to get up and walk- I will post the pic shortly for you- It is most likely that with help now it may grow into a normal adult- but giving help quickly is important.

Hold the little one in your hands in the right position as much as you can. Hopefully it is only his feet effected and not tendons or his hips- but it does sound a bit like something that has happened because of his late hatching. Im sure you checked your temp regularly- so unless your thermometer is not reading right- you would have had the temp right all the way through. but low temps can cause them to hatch late- maybe getting a second one to check them against each other would be good before you try again. You have two chickens as well though- so you are doing something right!

Find something sticky that wont bend with the ducklings webbing - so that it spreads out the foot. I used pads for corns and callouses on human feet- they are sticky enough to stay on for a few days. It helps them to gain balance and learn to walk properly but yowill have to hold it and help it a bit for a little while too.

Great photo and advice Duckyfromoz We have all had to do this at one time or another.

OMG...Is it too late to put sticky stuff on his feet? I am just now reading this on how to help babies feet. like over 12 hours ago. grrrrrrr if its not one thing its another, and my poor white chicken/hen died yesterday. Found her dead laying on ground in the coop down from her nest of eggs. she was the only chicken that would come to me she followed me all over when i was in the chicken area she loved for me to dig worms up for her she would climb on the shovel & stand on the dirt every time i tell her, Priscilla get off the shovel i cant dump the dirt with you on there. I kinda wanted to hatch her eggs she was sitting on but i dont know. tyvm, I'm looking for sticky stuff now. ~Julie~
