The itinerary was supposed to go something like this :

Pressure wash the playset on Saturday- the pressure washer broke so it didn't get finished until late yesterday afternoon
Wait a couple of days for it all to dry and apply Kilz2 and then paint a little afterwards
Build run to attach to playset and do the hokey pokey and celebrate a home for some chickens

Sounds all fine and dandy except....

That's my 10 day forecast!!! If only I had been able to finish the pressure washing on Saturday. Now I won't be able to paint for at least 2 weeks because after 8 days straight of heavy rains, I'm going to have to let it dry. I might try pressing my luck and seeing if it is at least dry enough for the Kilz tomorrow before it rains. Supposedly it dries to touch in 30 minutes and can be painted over in an hour so hopefully if I get it done in the morning, then it should be dry by the afternoon. If I can at least get that layer on, then when it stops raining at least I won't have to wait for the wood to dry out.

So who else has building plans that are getting completely thrown off track because of this rainy weather?

no doubt about it! Garden, yard work, chicken coop/run work.........I have places I can't even walk in my yard without rubber boots on because we've had so much rain.

good luck getting this finished! keep us posted please

Thanks. My hardest part is being patient. I KNOW it is a bad idea to paint the wet wood, but the thought of waiting another 2 wks is killing me. I cannot even get any chickens until this house is done. I plan on buying some fully feathered chicks that can go straight into the finished coop.

you really don't have a choice with the painting though, because if you paint it while it's wet, you seal the moisture IN and it will rot from the inside out (if the paint sticks at all)

I understand about the pressure washer thing, we've finally gotten a bit of a break and the last few days have been really nice.
Got out spreading some dirt piles left from the driveway project, and the steering box on my old ford tractor decided to take leave...right when it's finally dried out enough to plow the garden spot

. The parts will be here sometime this week, but guess what the weatherman says for us by the time they get here and I get it rebuilt.........
