When to feed chicken grit

Parakeet grit has oyster shell in it, though I'm not sure what the calcium content is.

Does it, I didn't know that. Next time I have chics that I'm raising I'll make sure to take a look... My hope is that when I have to replenish my flock, I can have the ladies take care of raising the chicks.

i have some chicken grit and don’t know how old my chicks need to be before I give it to them. My chicks are currently 3 weeks old and they eat chick crumb and peck at their bedding.View attachment 1194717

i just saw this chick grit on amazon, it sounds great..! and grit is good for them at any age & cant hurt them, it helps them to digest their food properly , but this new kind of chick grit sounds like a great idea..!! , i would choose this one ...!!!

good question..! they dont really need grit the feed companies say , if they are only eating the chick starter /grower, but i give them grit in a separate bowl , just because , i dont feel we know every thing, so just to be on the safe side, i feel nature knows best and i give my chick from day old on grit , its a good thing : ) and this one sounds like a good idea. > Manna Pro Poultry Grit with Probiotics, 5 lbs. by Manna Pro cost $6.99 available at amazon.
