When to help? When to worry?

It's actually pretty dry to the touch. I honestly have hope that this little guy will do ok. I can hear him tapping and his taps are way stronger than either of the other two ever were. I think he's taking his time, something I probably should have given more of to the other two. *fingers crossed*

Understand they usually don't zip, what they do is make a hole and continue to make that hole bigger and bigger until they can get out, once they are out, there's usually a good size what I call snot ball, it's grose, it's actually there first quarter size poop. LOL

I haven't done anything with the second one. Mostly worrying about getting the temp up. It dipped a bit getting the humidity down.

Well again, you want to use him as your practice egg. I'm sure you will be hatching more after this. LOL what a joy ride. Also if he's dead you dont' want that egg to start seeping in your bator, first it's hard to get it out and second It can kill your strong one..

so take some time to practice making a safe hole on that second one and don't forget to smell inside. That will be your BIG give away if he's dead or not.

It's a Lovely smell. NOT!!!!!

One good advantage that you have with your strong ducky, is he is in the RIGHT position, sometimes they crack at the smaller end, OH BOY what a challenge that is to get a duck out but I have helped someone do it.

Some of them crack right smack in the middle, but NOT yours he's in the PERFECT SPOT....

So tomorrow about 11:00 pm I'm eastern time, Lets see where he is... HOPEFULLY, once you get your readings right he can successfully make it out tonight, if not will give him ALL day tomorrow. LOL

I'm with you all the way guys. As lacrystol says this is giving him a chance. You have done so well. I'm well aware how scared you are. Fingers crossed that this little guy gets out.

I'm kind of thinking he will be making some really good progress. Since I discovered that tiny hole, he is pecking next to it, making a line. Starting to get some of the shell to bulge up there too. Trying to push his little beak up through the membrane a little bit. Hopefully it'll be all smooth sailing from here.

Listening to what has been said that is pretty much what I'm seeing with mine. Which is hopefully a good sign for both of us. Just don't worry if he stops moving as he needs a nap. Then a while later they start again. Got to hold your nerve now. So grateful Lacrystol was there to help you and you aren't facing this alone. My egg 3. is going to be later than the other 2 . He's not pipped externally yet but I'm only on day 27. These other 2 are working their socks off and have been from day 25. I'm simply going with the flow and letting them do what they want.

You've done a great job,it takes so much out of you the first time. I didn't worry about giving birth myself anywhere near as much as I am about this LOL

It's 4.30am here and I had better get some sleep. Just wanted to stay around until it settled down. Will be thinking of you and your duckling. Please keep us informed.

Good deal that's what we like to hear...
