When to lock down?

Okay, I thought I knew when to lock down; however...I'm really not sure. So, I set my eggs on 04-01-12, a Sunday. So, is lock down today, 04-18-12, or tomorrow, 04-19-12? Because I was thinking that today, 04-18-12, would be lock down and hatch day would be Saturday, 04-21-12. Can someone help me?

It gets confusing I think we all worry ourselves crazy about this myself included. lol If you set on 4/1 your hatch date should be 4/22 Sunday so your lock down would be Thursday 4/19. I have found with my set up I can go to day 19 but that is probably due to my thermometer being off and I think I tend to run a little low on temps pushing my hatch closer to 22 days if your temps run a little warm it can shorten your hatch date. I still get nervous and start second guessing myself at about day 17 just keep a eye on them many people have locked down both early and late and still had great hatches. I have had pips going into lockdown and they ended up fine. Good luck and I hope you have a great hatch.

I locked down on 4/18. I have had 6 hatch thus far and have 1 pip and three eggs waiting. This 10 is what is left from a clutch of 14 barnyard mix I set on 4/1. Unfortunately, the shipped eggs I received and set on the same day (in this same incubator) have not had a single pip. Tomorrow is day 21 so I'll wait and see.
