When to put chicks out in the coop? Heat lamp or no heat lamp?

Oh wow amazon for the win! Thanks!
Just so you know I have never had heat of any sort for my adults.

But I have had some sick over the winter and had to bring them inside for a couple of days because putting them in a coop alone without their combined body heat just didn’t fly with me. So that’s why I said I will probably use it for a sick bird down the road

Just an FYI for if you are planning on raising more chicks

Today I put the heating pad in the brooder on the other side away from the heat lamp with my week old chicks and half of them are sleeping on it right now
It’s hard plastic and really easy to clean and I wish I had known about it sooner because the price is right

I’ll be taking the heat lamp from these guys by about 3 weeks old at least (maybe sooner) and leaving the heating pad for them.

I'm not a fan of heat lamps in enclosed spaces, since it's an obvious risk. If you have not already fully weaned them off heat, work on that this week, and then boot them into the coop at 4, 4.5 weeks. They'll do just fine at your posted temperatures.

Also chicken wire is not predator proof with anything coon size and up, something to think about vs your predator load.

I dont have your answer but I love your Shepard and Lab!! Great picture of the chicken coops New owners! Lol
