when we move my first project !

When we move I really want to go into chicken breeding and genetics and I have already thought of a project that I want to do. I was thinking of breeding blue leghorns by crossing Blue Andalusian with White leghorn and this is the way I was thinking of doing it what do you think.

Original LH x Original AR Original AH x Original LR

Grp. 2 Gen. 1 H x Grp. 1 Gen. 1 R Grp. 1 Gen 1 H x Grp. 2 gen 1 R


And so on so what do you think.

I thought I read somewhere that Leghorns were dominate white, but I could be wrong. Do they have black leghorns? That would be an easier way. Sorry I cant be more help.

They do come in black

I forgot about black + blue makes blue

You are in luck.

You can backcross F1 to purebreed leghorn to improve type etcetera.
No need to do F1 * F1

When describing a cross you put the male first and the female second:
Blue andalusian (male) * Black leghorn (female)
Genetics originated a long time ago...

Um what does F1 stand for ?

And I will keep that in mind, my parents are still trying to decide on if they want the land we saw or not so me doing this might not happen for a while.

F1 is the first generation from a cross, then F2 and so on, good luck!
