All but one of mine started laying at about 8 months...the other was closer to 9. I have 6 hens, so we were getting impatient! Hang in there- their eggs are worth the wait

I always heard they are closer to 7-9 months as well. Easter Eggers can take a while to lay. I have one, but am not expecting eggs anytime soon from her, she is 17 weeks old.

I have two EE, has been laying for about a week, started at 20 weeks. She had been doing the squat for a couple of weeks. The other of the same age no squat yet, I'm not convinced it is a hen. My ee that is laying wants desperately to lay in the bush, so she is in the tractor Coop/run until she lays each day now. Unfortunately, she lays late in the afternoon 4-5 PM. The five other, RIR and BSL, started at 18 weeks and now getting 4-5 eggs a day from them.

Our EEs were hatched March 26th, so they are about 7 months old and no eggs yet...

They have medium/dark pink pea combs... and they are much lighter than the other hens (that ARE laying - but they are a different variety). So, they will darken up right before they start laying? I am getting very impatient. I want my pretty eggs now!

My EE's from MPC started laying 19 to 23 weeks.. They were a fall hatch so they started in spring. IMO that speeds thing up a bit. Also I am confident that my "supercharged" chemical free, organic living, home made feed helps too. This springs Pure Ameracuana started laying at 24 weeks, the Marans at 20 weeks... (Sorry gota brag..)

If nothing else when they are close bump up the protein treats...so maybe their overall protein is at 20% or so.. (If you are feeding a 17% layer) Use meat, fishmeal, canned fish, flax, soy, insects... Any of those will boost protein.. The bread lowers protein... I swear by bumping protein just before they begin to lay to speed things along.. (Of course within the bounds of nature)

I think my two EEs were at about 21 - 23 weeks when they laid. Neither were squatting, and still don't, although by BO and BR do. Neither has ever had super red combs either...at least not when you compare to my BR. I started them on layer feed around 18 weeks and began leaving out a dish of oyster shell once they started laying. Treats are fun but make sure they don't comprise a large part of their diet.

They need a nest box. Some place cozy where they feel safe laying.

This won't make you feel any better, but I have 9 EE's born on April 7th. I am sure that 5 of them are laying. I'm pretty sure that 2 more just started laying and that the last 2 are not laying yet.

I also have 15 other pullets of different breeds. The EE's combs are not nearly as red as the rest.

Be patient- the beautiful blue/green eggs are worth it.

Which hatchery are your from?
Mine are from Cackle.
