Keep one in a hutch and if anyone asks, it's a fluffy rabbit![]()
The really sad thing is...................I know people that would believe that.

I've had people come over, see a silkie walking around in the yard and ask "what kind of dog or cat is that, it's so fluffy!"![]()
They don't get over 2 pounds generally. The fluff makes them seem bigger than they are. I would say white is the best color, but I may be a little biased
how big do bantie silkies get? if icould get one i was wondering if it wouldnt be too small. i have all LF except for my sultan hen who probably has some bantie in her and my two orp chicks (12 weeks) who arent being picked on too bad. and what is the best silkie color in your opinion?![]()
thank you Chicks Galore3. i guess ill just have to be patient
I think my barred rock (Pippyn) laid an egg yesterday - I'm not totally sure. The egg wasn't tiny pullet sized, it was the size of my gold star's eggs. The shell was tan with lots of freckles. The shell was pretty thin, which I one reason why I think it was Pippyn's. Another, because I think it was fertilized. My rooster has just started mating, and I haven't seen him to do it with the older ones. (They'd murder him - they are newly integrated.) But I don't know for sure - the white spot is more prominant and I think it was a bullseye.so it probably would be fine to get one if i could. oh and thanks. thats funny about your silkie, it sounds like my cat; either she thinks shes a chicken or she thinks the chickens are other cats.IDK![]()
it was the BR that layed the egg. she layed another one today and i saw her in the nest right before and after i heard her doing the egg song.
