When will my rooster crow?

I know crowing isn't like ... the most awesome thing, especially in a northern part of the US where the sun rises before 5:00 am in the summer. But I do have one rooster who is 18-ish weeks old, and he looks so pretty and roostery, struts around like he owns the place, and generally seems pretty grown up. But we haven't heard him crow. I guess I'd have thought he'd be singing the kids awake for school by now ... ???

It should be anytime now. Roosters generally begin crowing from 4-6 months, unless they are late bloomers. Some breeds crow as early as 6-8 weeks, that would freak me out.

Ah - breed info would have been sensible for me to include. Though his breed is the always-inaccurate "Easter-Egger" ... he was sold as Aracauna, but the breed ID people on this board have all agreed that he is certainly not a genuine Aracauna.

I had a boy crow at 8 weeks. Got to pick 4 chicks from a friends flock. Brought them home, hoping for all girls, and set them outside to meet my girls. 6 grown ladies clucked and strutted up to check out the new comers.
AARAHAGA! Crowing commenced. I about fell over from shock. Called my friend and said I had a return. Didn't believe me until the crowing was heard in the background. LOL

You'll get to enjoy the sounds of a voice changing teenage boy soon. LOL None of the boys I've had start out sounding very manly.
