) We bought them in June or May, which means....July... August...September.... October...They are about 5-6 months old! Wow! I was thinking about our other pullets that we had bought in '07!!!

Dont forget to have oyster shell as free choice for the girls. It will help make there shells stronger. You can also bake the egg shells and feed that to them for calcium
Doesn't laying mash have that in it?
The hens that ARE laying don't have oyster shells, and they have really tough shells on their eggs. We feed them the laying mash(the company that makes it is BlueSeal i think)
But the eggs that we get from our two older hens aren't very thin. They lay one a day.
