When will she give birth

Hi @JadeFarms, I have been reading all the pages too. You have a real big heart for animals. But unfortunately Niala, the mother dog is not yours and you’re grandfather is probably right not to interfere in any way.

Sometimes life is hard and we have to deal with the possibilities life s giving us.
I feel with you. I had some nasty experiences as a kid too, living on a farm where life often was cruel for the animals. I had a weak heart for all mammals and other animals I could feel for. That’s why I became a vegetarian as soon as I left home. 19 years old.

I’m not sure but I suspect Niala, the mother dog is in the house and the family that lives there is taking care of her (in their own way). Niala is mothering and has to spend much time with her puppies. So whenever she comes over to you’re house she’s taking time off as a mother. Hopefully she can care for them many more weeks and the owners will sell/ find new and friendly owners for the puppies after a month or two.

I think it’s best to leave Niala and her pups at her place and not disturb the co-existence with the neighbours. Don’t trespass and just be happy if she’s visiting you and you’re dog. If she ever comes to show her puppies be exited but don’t try to keep them. I know ghis is sad but the puppies are not yours. 😢

I wish you , Niala, you're dog , friend and granddad all the love and the best, 💕
Well they refuse to keep their dogs inside no matter what, she’s more likely in a outside cage if she’s in anything. I just don’t want them abused because it’s not right. And thank you.

She didn’t come today and it’s almost 3:00 so she’s not coming today. I’m kinda wondering if they lock her up (if they found the pups) and let her out to poop and pee. That may be why she only comes certain days.
I hope thats not it. I hope she comes over soon.

I know you want to see her, and I know you're worried about her, but the best thing for a "good" owner to do would be to keep her with her pups--and that may be what her owners are doing. In which case they ARE doing something right.

So far, so good, sort of - at least from her coming to visit, you know she is in decent shape, and apparently being fed enough to be able to feed her puppies, partially thanks to what you feed her as well.

Next time she visits you, can you make sure you can easily fit 3 fingers in between her neck and her collar, and make it looser if not? From your pictures, and it might just look that way from the angle, but her collar looks a bit too tight. From your description of these neighbors and their minuscule level of "care," it wouldn't surprise me a bit, if they put that collar on her when she was a puppy and never bothered to adjust it as she grew.

Even if it ultimately turns out that you aren't able to do much else for her, at least you can make this lovely dog's life better, by saving her from the horrible pain and infections that can be caused by an imbedded collar.

I was going to ask if there was any kind of tag on her collar (license, rabies vaccine, microchip number, owner's name and address) but never mind, I probably already know the answer!

Off topic a bit, but in the spirit of Thanksgiving that's coming up soon, I'm going to give thanks for young people like you, OP. People who care about animals make this world a better place.

I will definitely fix it, I think what they were doing was keep the collar on her because they are great at slipping their collars off. I will definitely loosen it. It’s probably painful. No they don’t have that on the collar, I will double check whenever she comes back though. I am pretty sure they don’t take their dogs to the vet, but I am not positive about that. I know they don’t bring them to the vet when they’re hurt, so probably not.
Also, thank you so much for that last part, that just made my day.
