It's past week 21 and still no eggs from my bobwhites gurrr!! It's longer than chickens! When will they lay? And why can I do to speed it up?

Wait another 3 weeks? They would still be getting enough light this time of year...
Are they getting enough protein? Enough calcium? What kind of pen are they in...hiding eggs?

I really don't know but I'm trying to troubleshoot some answers. I wonder why your babies won't lay? Hopefully you'll find your first egg in the AM!

Unfortunately, bobwhites don't normally start laying till their second season. You might get some eggs this year, but most likely they won't start until springgtime next year

That's one of the reasons I chose to raise coturnix, that and I couldn't see paying $75 a year for the permit to sell $4 or $5 birds....

That's interesting!!

I guess the coturnix that I'm hatching won't lay until spring either then...no artificial lighting at this house.

How long do bobwhite live, if they don't start laying until so late?

I'm not sure how long bobwhites live, I believe it's like 10 years for bobwhites? Though I could be wrong.

The coturnix you are hatching might start laying this year, or they might wait till next, it's hard to say on that one.

my coturnix started laying at 5 weeks there is no artificial lights on them Im still not sure how many hens we have but we got 19 eggs today and they just started laying

I know that we had bobwhites and we gave them away. they wanted to eat each others feet. I didn't like them they were too flighty. They were 6 weeks old. so I have no idea when they will start to lay. I know that it says online that it takes up to 6months for them to start to lay.
