I have 5 Ancona Hens 16 weeks old and 3 blue leghorn bantam hens 16 weeks old
How long off do you think they are from laying?

Generally chickens start laying at about 20 weeks old, though there is a 5 week margin, and usually as much as 28 weeks for non-production breeds.
SO you are getting quite close now - - good luck!!!

yes I cant wait. they are good quality.
but arent you supposed to wait a month or two until their eggs get bigger before you start hatching chicks
otherwise they will be too little.

Definitely, also I think the younger girls dont let the rooster near them as willingly so they would more likely be infertile.
