When would a Barred rock start laying eggs

I got two pullets that were supposed to be 18 weeks, and they started laying at about 21&23 weeks. They've been laying for a couple months now and their eggs are still really small. They also don't lay as regularly as I was hoping; I rarely get two of their small eggs in one day. Hopefully they will start laying more regularly and normal sized eggs soon!

I have two BR slackers. They are almost 21 weeks old, squatting pretty regularly, one has the biggest, bright red comb/waddles, and I feel like they are holding out on me... They are loud and proud, strut around like they are all that, pretty much top of the pecking order. Our RIR, small, quiet, near bottom pecking order, has been laying every day for the last week. Out of twelve she is the only one that has stepped up. I am hoping that this post will shame some of her flock mates into laying and when I go out this morning I will find 4 or 5 eggs:)

Ours are now just about 20 weeks and they have nice red wattles, but no eggs yet. Hoping that it vwill be soon! Also our NH Reds are the same age, one from them yet either!

One of my hold outs must have known that I was talking about her because she started laying yesterday.

The girls are consistant though they lay 5-6 eggs each per week. When my first girl started laying and I would collect the egg, I felt like that person/thing "Gollum" from Lord of the Rings calling the ring "My Precious". I still get excited but now I am also so happy when I can give some away. If I would have known chickens could bring so much joy I would have done it a lot sooner.

Lol... I still do it... My preccciouuus.... A few MORE than there used to be lol, but still special nonetheless; I feel like they give me gifts of life in a little handmade package ;)

They even come watch me gather eggs, and I always tell them " Thank you, such good girls!"... They rarely let me down :)

I tell my girls "Thank You!" too!! And I tell them they are doing such a good job and how pretty they are. I talk to them all the time. I give them an extra little treat (veggies, fruit, or something) while I am collecting eggs. Just a little thank you for their "labor".

One of our BR's laid her first egg on Sunday, one day shy of 21 weeks. The BR we have was checking out the nesting boxes yesterday so hopefully soon.

My BR is outside during the day. She is 25 weeks now. I wonder, how do you know if a chicken starts laying? I heard there is a pelvis width test you can do?
