Quail eggs, I’m assuming?
I believe this person is speaking of quail....I don't know what you read. 6 to 8 week pullets are still babies.
The age to begin laying is more like 18-25 weeks, or 5-6 months. It depends on the breed and the individual hen.
Lol I think we posted at the exact same timeAh. I know nothing about quail. My response was for chickens.
And OP posted under "chicken behaviors and egglaying". I thought they were just hella confused.Lol I think we posted at the exact same time![]()
Egg laying in quail is directly related to light hours, comfort level, etc. If they are stressed by overcrowding, too many males, potential predators, etc that can directly effect laying. They also require 14-16 hours of daylight so if kept outdoors or indoors without supplemental light and during short daylight hours, laying can be delayed until enough daylight occurs naturally. Switching feed to a layer feed past 8-10 weeks can also be helpful. My 2 hens are not laying right now. I read that they would normally start laying at 6 to 8 weeks but now it’s been for months![]()
