Hi.
I bought 2 White Leghorns and 2 Rhode Island Reds chicks on Memorial Day.
I was envisioning having home produced scrambled eggs for breakfast by now.
But they don't seem to have any inclination of laying eggs. They just have jolly good time running around the yard and chasing bugs.

Neither motivational words nor empty threads of the soup pot have helped.

I hope I didn't get four roosters, but I figure we should see or hear
that by now.

Am I to impatient? By when can I expect my first eggs. Could there be something else wrong?

they may NOT lay this year, its getting cold, but AROUND 5 or 6 months they MIGHT start,, what are they eating, drinking, how is their coop set-up?
and your RIR's should be better layers then the leghorns, least this winter lol

I also got my chicks on Memorial day and we got our first egg today (out of 9 hens) It was the easter egger that laid today - still waiting on the BR, RIR and austalorps. Be patient a few more weeks and I'm sure you too will find the fabulous FIRST EGG! Good luck.
