Where are our guinea owners located?

Surry county, VA here. We have 2 adult males and 1 guinea hen, and 7 babies 2-months old. Plus leghorns and their babies.

How do you keep your coop a semi-controlled temperature?  I've noticed the bulb we have only raises the temperature about 5 degrees from the outside air, and that's in the summer... It's an uninsulated coop.  And how do you deal with ventilation in the winter?  There is 1 window that remains open, should I close it off or leave it open in the winter?

I'm in central Ohio and winters are hit or miss, some are mild, some are frigid.

I live in Pittsburgh, PA, I keep my coop warmer in the winter with the addition of a "sunroom". I actually found this concept online. I built a greenhouse type addition out of plexiglass. It's just a triangular attachment on the side that gets the most sun in the winter. I filled the bottom with rocks. The sun heats the rocks and the plastic hold the heat in all night. It was pretty inexpensive and easy to build. I hope this helps.
