Greetings from SE Misouri!! I'm 2 hours straight down I-55 from St. Louis.

It's good to see some others in the same general area. I went for a couple hours to the poultry show in Cape Girardeau last weekend. That was a fun experience. I had never been to a show before.

Help!

I think there is something wring with Lightning Mcqueen. She's a rhode Island Red and she keeps laying on her side and kicking. Her one toe(?) seems bent, but she's really acting strange. What do I do?

I bought my four Buff Orpington pullets as week-old chicks at Fenton Feed last September. They were very nice and helpfull and have been since.

Well, we went out for a while and when we came back she was doing fine. Is this dust bath behavior normal? Maybe thats what it is. None of the other has done this, but McQueen is also the oldest and the biggest by far. So is dust bathing a good thing?

Several days ago, when we moved one of the broodies and her babies out of the brooder coop, first thing she did was take a good dust bath. And so did the babies.

Dust helps to kill critters hiding in their feathers or on their skin, scratch those itches they can't reach, remove excess oils . . .
