Where did I go wrong? - Coturnix Quail

20-30 the entire way? Do you have still air and hand turn? Mine has a fan and auto turner. Seems everyone has different views on humidity depending on the bator.

I incubate in a 1588 genesis and 1502 sportsman cabinets. So forced air and auto turning.
20 to 30 percent during incubation 15 days. Then raise to 70 plus for hatch.

But have had some pop out before I got the humidity raised.

How is you chick doing that pipped membrane

Still alive, still stuck in the egg. I’m less concerned about him at this point than I am about the other 48 eggs that are set. If he’s the strongest of the hatch I’m screwed. Wrapping up day 18...

I’m at 67% 100.1 degrees.

Any hatch updates??
Middle of day 19. Still just the one attempt who looks like he is fading inside the shell... I’m going to give them until tomorrow, but there are no pips on any of the other eggs.
At this point I’m certain 12% 103.4 overnight crash/spike on day 8 ruined the batch.
I will post a pic of the poor guy who attempted a hatch later when I get off work.

Also wondering if there is a better hygro/thermo I should use. I have the Incutherm from incubator warehouse that seems to have positive results for most people.

I have a still air hovabator with the automatic turner. I run mine at 102 with about 45% humidity for chickens, quail and ducks. I think my last quail hatch was 35 healthy chickes out of 38 eggs. BUT it took a big learning curve with some bad hatches to get there. I think my first hatch (chickens) NONE hatched even though they all developed.
Sadly the only advice I have is to gather some more eggs and try again. Write down your numbers so when you start having sucess you can have your "map" for next time

You have me scared. I am on my 2nd incubation, the first one was a fail. I bought a new incubator and am on day 12. Out of 37 eggs 32 have live growing chicks, 3 eggs the shells are too dark to see, and 2 were quitters. Do you know or have any idea what went wrong that they were all fully developed but didn't hatch?

Don't think a night spike of 103 even for 8 hrs. would do them all in like that....At least I have had worse hiccups and still had a decent hatch. Disappointing I'm sure, hope your next hatch goes well!

Okay. I’ve done everything I can.
Set 57 of my OWN eggs tonight. Finally got the right light and 10 of 12 hens are laying, all three boys are mating.
I cross checked my temperature to three thermometers and added a sponge for minor humidity tweaks.
Thoroughly cleaned and sanitized the entire incubator.
Currently running at 45/100 and will adjust over the next few hours as everything adapts to the new set.
Also will be more mindful of topping off the water daily. Even set the eggs so my straw has clear access to the water reservoirs.
Additionally, the eggs are marked by color in two day intervals (7 days total) so I can see if I have a higher/lower hatch by storage date.
I think I’ve covered everything... I hope.
See ya in a few weeks!
