Your roosts are awesome. Mind if I ask a few questions? How far off the ground are your roosts? How do they get up to the top roosts? I wonder if mine is too high sometimes as a few of my birds seem to struggle to get up there, but it's the heavier birds so maybe it's b/c they can't fly well. Also, do you have anything under the pdz except the wood? I've seen many people have trays, but I can't find any that would fit my particular situation so I like how yours is, but I would need to put an edge around the board to contain it. Not really an issue, but I wondered if I should also put something under the pdz to make for easier cleaning.

Thank you. I have the lowest poop board approx 20" from the floor and the other a good 2 feet above that. I originally put trim on the outside edges to hold PDZ, but had to add it to the back as well because the PDZ fell through the gap. It is plywood with PolyWall utility panel over it and then the trim on top of that. The PolyWall sheets are 4' x 8' and came from Home Depot. It's nice and heavy, easy to cut. Should last forever.

Ooooo I'm going to have to look into that stuff. I'm thinking about adding a couple roosts over on the top of Odin's box which I know is 24" high. I'm hoping that it'll help for my heavier birds.

I also have linoleum on my poop boards but I don't put anything on them. I just go in and scrape off the poop. You can see our setup here http://onemountainacres.weebly.com/adventures-with-chickens you have to scroll about 3/4 of the way down to see our poop boards and coop setup. We added a ramp to the lower of the two roosts after the pictures were taken. Anyone that wants on the higher roost usualy walls up to the lower and jumps over to the higher.
Love your coop!

I turned a piece of property, that used to be a junk yard, into a productive little chicken farm!
I still find a lot of broken glass, nuts and bolts, metal scrap under the dirt and sand. "actually the chickens dig up the shiny glass fragments, and I believe I lost one rooster due to the existing danger of garbage still buried, but I'm trying to fix the problem and I won't give up!!:sick

I know what you mean about weird things getting dug up.

To date my very large dogs have dug up ( and had stuck between their toes)
1 micro machine car, 1 army man, 1 toy Indian, 1 Lego, and a wheel off a matchbox type car.
:hmm I keep waiting for the gold brick.....or at least a rare coin.
