Wait! Could it possibly be a Snipe?? My dad always talks about taking people hunting them but they never seem to find one... Maybe it's because they are very well camouflaged...

Question... I dumped leaves into the run over the weekend and now it seems the chickens are avoiding the run. I come home at lunchtime and they are either in the coop or under it. Three of them come out to the run to share my lunch but then go right back. Do they hate the leaves?
Just scared of them. Might help if you force them in there, they will eventually understand.
I try to add a little at a time, so they get the idea that the leaves are good. They still go ape-chit every time, but they do get over it quicker each time.

You can also add a bit of meal worms or shelled corn to the leaves, once they discover their reward they'll be all in.
