Oh...and btw...I now have a heated dog bowl....to heat the heated waterer...:he because...you know...the engineers at Farm Innovators are butt-clowns...

I stuffed the dog bowl with pipe insulation. Flipped it over and stuffed more pipe insulation in the crevice underneath the bowl. Propped it upside down on some plywood (the heating element for bowl is on the bottom of bowl) then placed the heated waterer on top of the inverted heated dog bowl. By the time I figure this freezing water fiasco out...it will be chuckin' spring! :rant:th

Over the summer, I'm going to devise a new watering plan. But for now...I'm experimenting just to make it through this God-forsaken arctic winter.

Those are some fancy mud boots! Perrtttyyyy :) I just have plain ol' Amish black Muck boots that I bought at the Mennonite Ag Store...(only color available) :) Oh...and a funny story with that.... So I go to my size area, women's 6. Try them on....jeesh they feel like a size 13! I side step to the next size...a 5....again, still way too big. I did this side step, try on a smaller size, side step, try on a smaller size until finally...in the kids section I find a pair of Kids size 5 that fit just right! lol Good deal though....kid sizes are $25 cheaper!!! Woohoo! Yay me! Thank the Lord for blessing me with little feet! lol

KH, do you have any girls that are laying yet? If not, your cockerel may just getting his jollies because he can. Also, sex in the animal kingdom is not always about procreation. Sometimes it's a dominance thing. Your cockerel is not yet a Roo. He won't earn that title until he's a year old. Until then, you can consider him to be the typical adolescent male teen. Full of testosterone, and his walnuts are bigger than his brain. I've seen cockerels doing the deed on top of a coffee can. A good roo will leave the ladies alone until he knows that those first eggs are on their way down the chute. A cockerel will take what he can get where-ever he can get it, and will not wait for permission.

I'm just getting invisible eggs so far... :hit I was hoping this bumping uglies thing was a sign that eggs were forthcoming...dang. A horny teenager...that's just great. I have the kids for 3 months now...not sure how old they were when they were dumped. Maybe they are getting close to awarding their Mommy with some eggs???? :fl:fl:fl

Are they visiting the nest boxes? If so, eggs could be forthcoming. Also longer days, that's in your favor. As well as tincture of time.
Bashful is in the nest boxes all the time. I fluff the bedding every time I check for eggs...and by the next time I check there's a little a little bowl made into the bedding. :) I took Tiger Woods out of the boxes as I kept finding them getting kicked out into the coop. lol
