Do you need to separate the chickens from the turkeys? Or do they co-mingle?

The incubator is a must, hatching is an addictive "hobby/obsession"
Ahhh....I'm beginning to understand "Chicken Math". Upon hearing that King was indeed a King and not a Queen...my boyfriend's eyes sort of glossed over and he started talking about babies...bigger coop...huge run...babbling really...(thought I heard the word "turkey" in there somewhere too but I wasn't going to ask for clarification just in case he didn't...and my mere asking would give him the idea!) I just tiptoed away from the babbling human as I began my own babbling..."let me finish my little coop first, jeesh, they haven't even pooped enough in their own place let alone plopped out any eggs...I don't even know how old they are....
It's only been 4 days...and the chickens are controlling our lives...![]()
Jumpin' Jesus, Mary & Joseph!!! No, I'm not ready for that yet!!!! Holy crap!
We never really are I still have just chickens
**Note to self**: Boyfriend NEVER looks over my shoulder while viewing BYC!
Oh, I have a garden.20' x 50'...with expansion plans this spring.
( Another addiction) I tossed my first chicken nuggets into the garden yesterday after cleaning the coop.

Yeah...I don't bake. lol Don't even own baking apparatus. lol I just got into canning this past harvest...that is yet another addiciton... There's just not enough time in the day for all the crap I want to do. lol
First thread I have read today... best one all week.. This is why I joined byc. Wonderful experiences shared when mine become repetitive and boring. Thanks for making my day..

More like I'm "preparing" to become a victim.I'm going to pretend I didn't hear the word turkey and just focus on expanding what I have to make my current friends more comfortable and safe.
Having said that...now that I know that turkeys can co-mingle with chickens, I won't have the knee-jerk reaction of "NO!" if the topic comes up again. lol
Woohoo! The girls left me a surprise in the egg boxes! Not what I was hoping for though...Why are they pooping in the egg box? How do I convince them to put eggs there, not poop? Are they mad at me?

I have the same problem. I was told it's b/c they're roosting on the sides of the boxes and you shouldn't let them sleep there. I have 3 that do it. I have plenty of roost space. IDK if it's b/c they can't get up there, or if they feel safer/ warmer/ less pecked hiding under there.Woohoo! The girls left me a surprise in the egg boxes! They all snuggle together on the upper roost bar which is farthest from the boxes. The poop wasn't there this morning when I checked for eggs and fluffed the shavings. Mom, they're exploring, and ya know, when you gotta go....They all snuggle together on the upper roost bar which is farthest from the boxes. The poop wasn't there this morning when I checked for eggs and fluffed the shavings. The little buggers...
