I'm also going to insulate mine and make it into a treadle waterer (google treadle feeder) so that it won't freeze in winter without heat needing to be used. I will just add hot water each day to keep the temp up.

I added 2 little cochins to my flock and of course they are also low on the totem pole! Now Rosie has friends! The 3 of them hang together and have their own little flock in a flock. I give them their own water and food containers, and added places for them to hide behind in case they need to get away.

We maybe do not get as cold as you guys because I use plain old 5 gallon buckets and lids I covet them here we get a bucket I make these water tanks :frow

We get pretty dang cold here... The water froze up last week...which sent me scrambling for a heated waterer. Right now we're having 30 mph winds with 50 mph gusts....and I'm out in it working on the coop. Lol
 
Taking a break to get warm in the pavilion...and making dust bath material in the process...:D

she is a real kick have had a great time going back and forth as she found these birds you will get allot of laughs
