Where did they come from???

Now...about those plastic automatic water dispenser thingies.... I'm not an engineer but I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express a few times... Why in the name of God's green Earth did they not just put the dang fill hole on the top of the freakin' dispenser???? What purpose...does the fill hole on the bottom serve? Why the need to have to flip the darn thing upside down to fill it???? :idunno Oh....and while I'm on a "female dog" fest...why have only an 18" cord???? :smack

Needless to say...after soaking myself a couple times...I will be revamping that dang thing to put a fill plug on the top...where it stinkin' belongs!:old
Lol, I AM one step down from an engineer and I think I have a solution to this problem that I will be trying out when I do my pigeon loft. They WERE right about needing an airlock in the container. That said, my idea is as follows: Top container contains the water and has an air tight sealing lid on it, then pipe or hose leading out of bottom of container with a ball valve in it and then leading to the water pan. You would close the ball valve between the water container and the water pan, then open the lid to the water container and refil, close the lid, then open the valve back up. That way you can fill from the top and not lose all of your water.

The nipple waterer system is awesome! We made our own with $5 worth of 'poultry nipples' and a bucket from Lowes. The water is ALWAYS clean. There is a learning period but they get the idea after a while. BTW, in this system, you have to have air enter from the top in order for it to work....
The problem I am seeing tho, is freezing weather. I assume I can't use it in the winter, so I've set up a heated dog bowl...

I did the same thing except I got the bucket from the Walmart bakery for $1. I use it year round with a submersible stock tank heater in it. It's worked great for 3 years. The nipples only freeze when it's like -10 out but then, I have plastic on my run so Thera no breeze or wind chill hitting it. I'm thinking of getting an aquarium heater to put in it this year and moving the submersible heater to the heated dish in the turkey pen since the heating element kicked the bucket lol.

See....there IS a better way! I will be your first customer! Make it fit the bottom piece of the heated water dispenser and that will be fabulous!

What is this contraption?
