Where did they come from???

Yeah, chickens are... chicken... You change something in their area and they freak out. Some chickens have even freaked out because the texture of their feed changed from crumbles to pellets...
I second the idea to toss some scratch or other treat in the leaves and chase them over there so that they discover them. Once one chicken goes in the leaves and isn't eaten and in fact starts eating yummy things, the others should follow.

I used sunflower seeds the day I put the leaves in there. I sat in the run on my chair hand feeding the two that will come to me and tossing seeds in all directions to get them all to spread out. After the initial panic attack of the "killer leaves", they eventually started scratching around and acting normal in the leaves. Sunday...they were in the run a good bit...but noticed two were hanging under the coop. Then Monday...is when the "thou shall not enter the run" crap started with all of them. Yesterday I had to coax them out of the coop itself with tidbits of my Gizmo I was eating. Usually they are nosey when they hear the bag and check out what's for lunch.

I agree check over is there aerial attacks imminent?, something hiding like Lazy said ?

Jeesh...I don't know. The run is only 10 ft x 10 ft...covered with a roof. I have walked around inside and nothing scurried out. Two things I did notice...the ever so present wind....the leaves pop up and catch a wind wave for a little bit...and when they spread their wings to fluff some leaves go flying. Would those things spaz them out?

Yeah...the poor buggers. Who knows what life they had before. I just want to do good things for them...and everything I do sends them into a panic...**sigh**. At this rate they'll never come sit on my lap when I come into the run....instead they'll be like "Shit, here comes that human thing with monsters again!"
