Where did they come from???

I had a 40lb + BBB turkey that went broody and nowhere to put her..
I tried the ice packs for a few days, but it was 90f out and she liked it...
Then I would take the top off the plastic dog house every morning and wrestle her out... block the coop so the chickens could get in but she couldn't... let her back in at night... because there was no place else, the other coop had the toms that had tore her up attempting to breed. ..repeat for a week before she broke being broody.. she started laying a couple of weeks later.. and went broody a month later.. repeated the kicking her out every morning for another week

My most stubborn broody will sir on an ice pack and warm it up to temp. Even if you keep switching out the ice pack for a fresh one lol.

@KettermanHillCoop make sure thar you set the crate up on bricks or something so that air can flow underneath. I've found that the crates with the big openings in the bottom work well if you just flip them upside down and if you have the tray that goes in the bottom of the crate, it makes a handy roof :)

Is this lack of feathers normal? This is the belly of my broody Miss Mocha...

Wait, stop the presses......*******

If you are ok with wanting little ones, she can sit on eggs and raise them, right with the others. You don't have to have a new coop yet.

Just sayin... its an option if you don't want to break her. I let all my girls raise their babies alongside the flock. I do block the broody and babies off for a few days of bonding time once they hatch. Eventually you may need some expansion, but this option gives you at least 6-8 weeks to get it done.
