Where did you get your chickens?

Mine all came from Ideal, both mail order and bought at a local feed store who orders from Ideal. the mutts hatched here.

I would not get chickens off Craigslist or from a swap, or other local source, for fear of bringing a disease in.

Also, hatchery chicks give just as much of a chance as Craigslist chicks.

5 came from the feed store as chicks ( 3 got taken by hawks) so I only have 2

3 adults came from a different feed store ( I Won't EVER do that again!! I have treated one for Bronchitis, and now am treating the second)

3 came from breeders.

7 chicks are coming from MPC in April

I got mine last may from MM hatchery and was pleased with the brown eggers i received and the 4 EE's that are laying now. I will in the future purchase from breeders when i am looking for a specific bird type. I don't like having to buy 25 at a time if I can help it.

Wow - this really gets you thinking doesn't it.

First 13 from Craigslist (1.5 year-old black sex link)
Next was four mille fleur juvinilles from My Pet Chicken
Then 10 silkies and 10 frizzles chicks from My Pet Chicken
Then 15 black sex links and 1 EE from Craigslist (originally from a hatchery, 5 weeks old)
Then 6 buff orpingtons and 8 EE from Craigslist (originally from a hatchery, 7 weeks old)

And getting ready to place another order with My Pet Chicken. Love this site!

I've been very fortunate with Craigslist. Good birds, good prices but I've since realized that driving out into the country alone without letting anyone know where I was is not a good idea. Nothing has happened but I don't think I should keep pushing my luck. If you use Craigslist make sure you don't go alone.

First I got a "bantam mix" of six from My Pet Chicken and ended up with one Silky, one Polish, one black Cochin frizzle, one silver and one golden Sebright...

Then I got a "feather-footed bantam mix", also from My Pet Chicken, of ten and got two Mille Fleur D'Uccles, two black and two splash Silkies, one black Cochin frizzle, three buff Brahmas.
