Where do chickens like to be pet?

My girls like to be scratched and rubbed on their backs, necks, and near the tail feathers. When they come close, I reach my hand out and they squat down and open their feathers for a good old rub down. Close their eyes and apply force back to my hand like a cat would. Its awesome!

I know old thread BUT THIS IS BECAUSE I would guess there is no ROO around the hens that are squatting. this means they are at laying age and LOOKING TO YOU FOR SOME LOVING!!!!!!

you scratching there back and tail feathers stimulates them....THEY WILL WALK AWAY RUFFLE FEATHERS AND FEEL GREAT.

My bantams love to be petted under the neck and back of the head. Roos love it to. Now, my Leghorns hate it, they don't even like to be picked up.

Once again, bringing this thread back, but I have a sick/injured hen that I've separated from the rest (she has been living in a pretty big box in my room, it stinks! But oh well) She can't move and I'm still not sure why, so I'm giving her time to recover as there are no visible injures. She just loves getting pet on her chin, and on the side of her face by her ears, it keeps her calm and she usually falls asleep when I pet her like that. It's adorable!

Hi. I have 5 silkie chicks ranging from 10 days to 1 day old and none of them like their backs being smoothed. They all love a gentle belly rub though. Even when they're anxious to get back to the others, they calm right down and nod off as soon as their bellies are smoothed :cd

My hens have become pretty friendly, since I'm the only one that feeds and waters them they recognize my voice. I even pet some of them. I recently had one in distress and now she is wanting my attention very time I come to see them. She hopped up tonight on top of their hut and begged for pets. Of course I chatted with her and gave her tons of attention. I never thought that this would/could happen. So thrilled

I have two Hens who LOVE being pet under the breasts and they freeze, like statues, when I gently pet their wattles! It's hilarious!
