Where do chickens like to sleep in cold temps?

This is great! Thank you so much for you advice. I'm going to raise the roosts, and try one 2x4 and one branch and see what they prefer, but when they sleep in the nesting box they all try to cram into the bottom middle one and spill out onto the ramp. Lol Cheers!

I use 2x4s flat side up...My Chickens lay on them at night to cover their toes...Block the nests at night and remove in the morning ....Also, Hello fello Canadain!....

Thanks! We hung up the a 2x4 today about 5 feet off the ground. We put them up there this evening, hopefully they get the hang of it by the end of the week. Hello from Nova Scotia!! Cheers, and thank you, Sarah

Covering the nests with something solid would help this process.
I hacked and slashed this hinged cover, makes it easy for when I have chicks until they get the hang of the roosts.
