Straw is the stalks that are left after harvesting grain, (wheat, oats, rye etc) NOTHING to do with edible grasses that are used for HAY. Two VERY different things!
Straw has no nutritive value, it is usually of a yellowish color, and hay should be obviously green. Depending on where you live, there will be different kinds of hay available, Timothy being one of the most common, Alfalfa also common, or Timothy Alfalfa mix. Alfalfa is quite rich, generally too rich for goats unless they are producing milk. (or so I've always believed, someone will correct me if I'm wrong I'm sure)
NEVER put ANY moldy hay or straw where they can get it. Goats are very curious, and sometimes they'll mouth things at the very least, or nibble them and mold can be poisonous.
