Where do you keep your chicks?

We put the brooder in the tack room. The tack room is heated (65º) We stopped using the heat lamp at week four.

They are now in their coop - but since our weather here is more like winter than spring, the coop is in hubby's shop. The shop is heated to 60º.

Can't wait for warmer weather!

We have our chicks in my master bathroom. My co workers think this is very funny. First that I have chicks and that I have them in my bathroom!

The weather has been very cold and snowy so I feel more comfortable having them in the house.

The dust is everywhere so I try to keep things as clean as possible and once they are out in the coop (hopefully soon!)

Ours are in the brooder I built in the spare bedroom. The bedding is pine shaving about an inch deep. We only have 4 chicks, so there's no smell (I pick out the poopy chips every night). They'll stay there a little longer till I finish the coop or until my wife kicks them and me out to the garage or deck.

There was an old box truck bed on our place when we bought it. DH closed in the back of it and installed a people door. It has a floor and is quite warm. I have 2 brooders in it. We have had temps in the 20s and only had to add a small electric heater occasionally. I also keep all of our feed in there. Very handy, someday I will paint flowers on the old ugly thing.

I have all my chicks in my living room. They have their own smell, but they don't necessarily stink as long as you clean out the bedding regularly. I love my little babies, and as much as I'd like for them to go outside, I know I'll miss them when they go.

I just turned a closet into a temp. grow out pen. We have a giant tub for our younger babies, and a second tub for our two ducklings as well. My closet grow out pen is actually quite awesome so far!

I keep mine in a large deck box on the screened front porch. Have a heat lamp in there and the temps get pretty warm during the days now. Turn off the lamp during the day and am figuring out now how to lower temps to do the gradual decrease. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My chicks are in an Equi-Flow dehydrator (with water tray for humidity) in the livingroom because they are less than a week old but they will move into an outdoor brooder this weekend to make space for ducklings.

we are keeping ours behind the couch because there are no drafts and there are 2 windows so they get lots of light.
