Where do you keep your feed if you don't have a shed?

Chicken feed, scratch, goat feed all kept on the screened porch in rubbermaid totes. I have a 3 quart scoop in the chicken feed. The scoop is great and has square sides so it doesn't spill easily, so sometimes I carry it to the coop in the scoop. If I want to add more than one scoop to the feeder in the coop, I just fill a bucket and carry it out to the coop.

My brother in law is a pool guy, and he gives me containers that look like this . They are 100lb capacity, super thick blue plastic, water tight and have a screw on lid that no animal can open. I wash them out and let them dry. I have 2 at the chicken coop (scratch and layer) and 2 at the duck coop (waterfowl feed and koi feed). I also have 1 at the brooder.

A galvanized metal trash can next to the coop, with a bungie cord from handle to handle to keep animals from taking the lid off. I can't remember how many gallons the can is, but it's the regular size you would buy for garbage, cost about $22. I can store two 50-pound bags of feed or one bag of feed and a bag of bedding in one can.

I had to goat proof mine, regular trash cans didnt work, but the more expensive and tougher Brute trash cans do! The lids snap on better, and you can secure them if you need to. The hold more feed too. Keep out the rodents, and the lid stays on even when they get tumbled around (yeah, it happened a couple of times)....

Good luck in your choices.

I have used rubber tote for awhile, problem is that they usual get broke or some thing. I got a chance to get a small chest type freezer that had stoped working. works great. It will contain 2 50 pound bags of feed in the bag. if I was to dump the feed it would hold more.

I had mine in plastic garbage cans, but squirrels chewed through the top of one. Since that time I`ve used metal garbage cans, but since mine are out in the weather, sometimes I have a leaky lid. My solution is pouring the feed into the can with a contractor grade trash bag inserted and then doubling the top of the bag over so water runs off. Been using this system for years.......Pop

I keep my horse, cat and poultry feed in those large plastic bins on wheels. No rodents here, barn cats are awesome! I like thse bins because they're easy to clean and dry in the summer and because I can roll them out of the way to sweep.
