Where do you order your chicks from?

The reasons I like Ideal is that there is no minimum quantity, just a minimum $25.00 and I think that the shipping and handling fees are reasonable (small box charge, air freight fee, etc), and, of course, their awesome customer service! All the chicks/poults I have gotten from them (62 total now in 3 separate batches) are healthy, no cross beak, splayed legs, etc. I did get a couple days of pasty butt on the banties in the second batch, but I do not think that had anything to do with them coming from Ideal. They are also very friendly chickens, not sure that matters LOL, but to us it does and though their characters differ by breed, I don't have any that are total flakes or freak-outs.

Wonderful, all of my chickens and turkeys are friendly except a couple that would rather be there but not touched but not mean by any means and when you offer treats even those stand offish girls come running to snatch a piece out of your hand.. I want all of my poultry to be friendly. When I am out in the yard they follow me everywhere, my banty EE Roo who has an anger issue with any person but myself and the kids. I keep him because he will stand up to the curious cats who wander onto the property, if he is willing to give his life to protect the flock its worth having to tell visitors to beware the attack rooster. I spend everyday among my flock and want them to trust me and come to me, yea I have them for pets and egg producers and they are a very wonderful addition. I like going out and sitting in a chair and having a hen jump in my lap and talk to me

. I cant wait to get this new batch I am sure you understand the anticipation. I am going to buy the supplies I need today and prepare the brooder tomorrow. My DH told me I am nesting lol cause I have cleaned the bathroom where they will live about 3 times now lol. I think it is clean now...

I ordered from Ideal as well and they should be arriving this Wednesday! I picked Ideal because of their selection this late in the year and the fact I could order a small number of birds since this is a backyard setting. This is my first time ordering from Ideal.

Same here. I was able to get the breeds I was after and the small numbers I wanted. They come this week and I am anxiously awaiting the little fluff balls

ok just got the email and it says my order was shipped today so maybe I will get them tomorrow? I am in missouri so maybe it will be sooner...

mine are from cackle hatchery, hatched may 2 ,2012 started laying sept. 21, 2012. I have 9 golden comets, 6 ausrta whites, 5 marans and 5 white crested black polish and 2 polish roosters. I got 6 eggs today.The golden comets and the austra whites are the only one laying so far. I am eagerly awaiting the marans to give me the dark eggs and the polish to lay white eggs.

thats great...

. My flock is just turning 5 months so hopefully I will get a few eggs before they stop for winter. Hopefully my new batch come tomorrow since they shipped today..
